Analyst's note:  Absolutely must read. "Hats off" again to my friend William J. Dell for this article.  I highly recommend his work.

We are always seeking to increase our understanding of national issues and discover reasonable solutions; thus improving our national security.  This article outlines the primary direction that we must take as a nation and the reasons for doing so.  It also provides strategic justification for staying focused on what is ahead of us all regardless of our political convictions.  Our coming "national adventures" will not likely to be easy, but if we "lean our ladders against the wrong wall" the tasks may well be impossible.

As most of you read this piece, the message will seem familiar. Enjoy.

"Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President of the United States [1801-1808], the first great leader of the Democratic Party, stated:

“That nation governs best which governs least.”

“I have sworn on the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.”

“To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must take our choice between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts, we must be taxed in our meat and drink, in our necessities and in our comforts, in our labors and in our amusements.”

“If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under pretense of caring for them, they will be happy. The same prudence which in private life would forbid our paying our money for unexplained projects, forbids it in the disposition of public money. We are endeavoring to reduce the government to the practice of rigid economy to avoid burdening the people and arming the magistrate with a patronage of money which might be used to corrupt the principles of our government.”

Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States [1913-1920], the leader of the Democratic Party who abandoned the Jeffersonian Philosophy for the Progressive Movement, stated:

“The history of liberty is the history of limitations of governmental power, not the increases of it. When we resist the concentration of power, we are resisting the powers of death because concentration of power is what always precedes the destruction of human liberties.”

To his everlasting shame, he did not follow his own counsel. Prior to the Wilson Administration, the Democratic Party was strongly possessed of both the spirit and principle of liberty. Since then, the party has been hijacked by an oligarchy of Socialists and Progressives determined not to be slaves themselves, but to employ their power and means to enslave We the People and if possible all mankind. Sadly, their effort has not been limited to the Democratic Party. During the pass nearly 100 years, the philosophy of the Progressives has also infected some of the Republican Party. These RINOs [Republicans In Name Only] have also joined in the destruction of liberty as they have collaborated and assisted the oligarchy in their efforts to enslave We the People by changing our Constitutional Republic into a Welfare Socialist State.

Together they began their efforts with the adoption of the 16th and 17th Amendments to the Constitution in 1913. These two amendments, foundation blocks of Marxist Socialism, established the progressive income tax and the direct election of Senators. The first of these enabled the Federal Government to begin its policy of redistribution of wealth. The second of these destroyed the vertical separation of powers [national, state, local, We the People] the Founders placed in the Constitution granting to the several States their equal voice in the Federal Government. The results of which inflicted upon the several States a myriad of “unfunded mandates.” These two amendments inexorably move us from the Constitutional Republic created by God through the Founding Fathers to a Democracy with all of its excesses leading to Socialism.

These were followed by the plethora of social-justice programs which have engendered an “entitlement mentality” among a large segment of the populace. Programs which as Jefferson predicted, wastes “the labors of the people under the pretense of caring for them;” and, which effectively already makes that segment “slaves” of the Federal Government. These can be seen in the policies and programs of:

1. The New Deal of Franklin D. Roosevelt, 32nd President [1933-1945]
2. The Fair Deal of Harry S. Truman, 33rd President [1945 - 1953]
3. The New Frontier of John F. Kennedy, 35th President [1961 - 1963]
4. The Great Society of Lyndon B. Johnson, 36th President [1963-1969]
5. Lastly, the outright Socialist programs of Barak H. Obama, 44th President [2009 -]

Generally speaking all of these federally administered social-justices programs violate the Tenth Amendment. These programs rightly belong to the several States as they have nothing to do with international affairs or inter-state commerce. The Founding Fathers stated it well in the Preamble to the Constitution. The Federal Government was to “provide for the common defense,” but it was ONLY to “promote the general Welfare.” To “promote” is to encourage. To “provide” is to accomplish.

The following is a series of quotes concerning Democracy:

“Democracy is more cruel than wars or tyrants.” (Seneca)

“Without checks and balances, monarchy becomes despotism, aristocracy becomes oligarchy, democracy becomes mob rule, chaos, and dictatorship.” (Cicero)

“The man chosen as leader by an ungoverned populace, is someone bold and unscrupulous, who curries favor with the people by giving them other men’s property. (Cicero)

“The world is weary of statesmen whom democracy has degraded into politicians.” (Disraeli)

“Democracy gives every man the right to be his own oppressor.” (James Russell Lowell)

“Remember, Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself! There never was a democracy that did not commit suicide.” (John Adams)

The Founding Fathers gave us a Constitutional Republic. A Republic differs from a Democracy. A Republic is government of the people, by the people, for the people. A Democracy is bludgeoning of the people, by the politicians, for their selfish interests. A Republic exists only when the system of government holds both the people and their rulers subject to law. It is a government of laws and not of men. Man becomes free when he recognizes that he is subject to law. As stated by Alexander Hamilton, “We are a Republican Government. Real liberty is never found in despotism or in the extremes of Democracy.”

“Republic! I like the sound of the word. It means people can live free, talk free, go or come, buy or sell, be drunk or sober however they choose. Some words give you a feeling. Republic is one of those words that makes me tight in the throat. The same tightness a man gets when his baby takes his first steps, or his first baby shaves, or makes his first sounds as a man. Some words can give you a feeling that makes your heart warm. Republic is one of those words.” (John Wayne, as Davy Crockett, from “The Alamo”)

Right is right even if no one is doing it. Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it. Our unalienable rights of life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and the private ownership of property are granted by God and can be abridged by the government only as “We the People” will allow it. In the words of Daniel Webster, “God grants liberty only to those who love it, and are always ready to guard and defend it.”

After Alexis de Tocqueville visited America, he wrote, “I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her commodious harbors and her ample rivers, and it was not there; in her fertile fields and boundless prairies, and it was not there; in her rich mines and her vast world commerce, and it was not there. Not until I went to the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.”

We, as a people and a nation, truly need to return to the God who granted us our inalienable rights to Life, Liberty and Property. The Constitutional Republic bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers for a second time is passing through the valley of the shadow of death. Our Constitution is being attacked on every side by the very persons elected to protect it against all enemies foreign and domestic. The politicians of the Civil War era failed to destroy government of, by and for the people; and, the politicians of the Progressive Movement of today will also fail IF we return to the God of the land who caused it to be established 234 years ago. We, as a people and a nation need to heed His promise:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. [2 Chronicles 7:14]

If we do this, as a people and as a nation, He will once again thwart the oligarchy seeking to destroy our Constitutional Republic. An oligarchy, which is at this time, striving hard to change our Constitutional Republic into a Welfare Socialist State. How we need again for God to lead us back from the night of tyranny and slavery we, as a people and as a nation, are facing into the day of freedom and liberty which our forefathers enjoyed and bequeathed to us. When we, as a people and as a nation, earn the blessing of this promise — with deep and sincere humility, we should then feel in our hearts to “Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us as a nation !” Then and only then, shall “the star-spangled banner in triumph wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave !”

May God Bless and Save the United States of America!"
