There thunders from Mount Sinai God’s injunction, “Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” To this Paul, the Apostle, added: “Which is the first commandment with promise.” Are We the People, as individuals and as a nation, still seeking the “promise?” Or does it no longer matter? Do we, as Americans, even care that our Constitutional Republic survives so that we might “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity?”

During the Seventeenth Century, many of our ancestors fled the oppression of Europe to come to the New World in search of religious freedom. In 1776 our forefathers were highly resolved to establish a land of Liberty and did so by pledging their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor. During our Civil War, many of our ancestors gave the “last full measure of devotion” so that our nation might have “a new birth of freedom.” Always there have been patriots among our ancestors willing to lay down their lives that others, here and abroad, might continue to live with freedom and liberty.

IN FLANDERS FIELDS

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Take up our quarrel with the foe!

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In just over a month our nation will celebrate its 235th birthday. Through the many decades since Lexington and Concord, tens of thousands of our ancestors, our “fathers and mothers,” have answered freedom’s call, but what of us their children, their posterity? Have we honored them by taking up “their” quarrel with the foes of our freedom, from within and without? Have We the People, of the present generation, received “the torch” from their failing hands? Are we holding it high? Or are we breaking “faith” with our fathers and mothers who gave “the last full measure of devotion” for us and our posterity so that we might enjoy the blessings of liberty?

When are we, of the present generation, going to honor our fathers and mothers and ALL those who throughout our history have defended our Constitutional Republic? When are we going to stop ignoring our Judeo-Christian heritage and the principles that made us a great nation? When are we going to fulfill the injunction from God who caused this nation to rise through the efforts of our Founding Fathers? When are we going to honor our “fathers and mothers” and their efforts which bequeathed freedom and liberty to us so that our days “may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee?” When are we going to remember the sacrifice of the Minutemen, the Blue and the Grey, the Dough Boys, the Greatest Generation, and ALL the Veterans since, a sacrifice that has secured liberty for us and made America a beacon of Hope for the entire world?

When are We the People, of the present generation, going to take up the quarrel with the foes of our freedoms:

1. The Progressives and the Socialist- DINOs (Democrats in Name Only), who would change our Constitutional Republic into a Welfare Socialist State?

2. The globalists, George Soros and his ilk, who would destroy the sovereignty of our Constitutional Republic in favor of one world government?

3. The theo-political forces of Islam advocating Jihad, who would destroy our Constitutional Republic in favor of a worldwide caliphate ruled by a caliph under Sharia Law?

When are We the People, as individuals and a nation, once again going to find the courage to stand for the Judeo-Christian principles that gave us our Declaration of Independence, our 1787 Constitution, and that made us the greatest nation in the world? When are We the People, of the present generation, going to find the courage of the past to stand against the tyranny that confronts us, from within and without, that would subjugate us rather than leaving us, We the People, as the rulers of our God given Constitutional Republic? When are We the People, of the present generation, going to stand courageously with our forebears who promised “NEVER AGAIN?!” When are We the People, as individuals and a nation, going to find the courage of our fallen heroes to:

Take up our quarrel with the foe!

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.

It is past time for us, as individuals and a nation, to find the courage and the resolve to hold the torch of Liberty high! Let us humble ourselves in mighty prayer for our Constitutional Republic so that God might grant us the courage of our ancestors and heal our land. Let us remember the sacrifices of our fallen heroes who gave all in freedom’s cause. Let us go forward believing that right makes might and reclaim ALL that our Founding Fathers bequeathed us and for which so many gave their lives.

As President Lincoln said at Gettysburg nearly 150 years ago, “It is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be dedicated to the great task remaining before us, that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion; that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and that government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

May We the People, as individuals and as a nation, with courage and a sincere heart once more seek for our Constitutional Republic “a new birth of freedom.” Let this be our resolve not for an hour, a day, or a year, but let it, in honor of our fathers, mothers and the fallen, be for all time!
