Analyst's note: No doubt more to come on this one. The Muslim Brotherhood is obviously not a favorite in Egypt. The Islamists in Egypt will no doubt fight, and doubtless with much violence, but they will not prevail. The military, the police, and the population at large are all united against them.

UPDATE 3:05 p.m. ET: Egypt’s top general has announced that Mohammed Morsi is no longer president and has been replaced by the chief justice of the constitutional court.
Egypt’s constitution has been suspended.
Morsi’s precise whereabouts are unknown. The Associated Press reported a Morsi aide said he had been moved to an undisclosed location. [....]
