Analyst notes:  As of yesterday February 6, 2013 the DHS has now announced an intended purchase of 21.6 million MORE rounds of ammunition. This brings their total recently to over 1.6 billion rounds. Given that during the hottest part of the Iraq war the US used about 5.5 million rounds per month this gives the DHS the ability to wage an Iraq-type war for over 30 years. Interesting that they are prepared to wage this war in the HOMELAND.  Without a manpower number akin to the US military, it is hard to imagine they need such ammo amount for training. Even then it would be huge!

Does the DHS foresee a time when US ammunition production will be so small that they need now to stockpile for years of need? Or do they foresee years of warfare against illegal immigrants?  Or do they see a time when they will have a "internal security force" as well equipped as the national military? Why does the government spend such money on ammunition when it claims we are in an economic hard time?  Just what is going on here? 

America might want to know why at the time government wants to take guns away from citizens that it is buying 7000 AUTOMATIC assault weapons and 1.6 billion rounds of handgun ammunition for itself?  Why guys? These are NOT normal needs being addressed here!
