Analyst's note:  Absolutely must read for added perspective on current events coming out of the Obama Administration.  Clearly Obama's UN ambassador pick has history of controversial comments, but there is much more beneath the surface.  We were wondering back in April 2012, if Samantha Power would use her former position on the Atrocities Prevention Board "as a tool to de-legitimize Israel" or "invest in the new state of Palestine."   Now if approved as Obama's UN Ambassador, Samantha Power may just be that tool.  This time with a much "sharper edge."  It is not helpful that Mr. Obama has malignant obsession with Jews and with Israel!

Will someone please explain what Samantha Power's (Mrs. Cass Sunstein) qualifications were to have permitted her to have been conceiving and suggesting military actions that directly impacted our national security and the ultimate deaths of our sons and daughters who are Warriors?  Does being the wife of Cass Sunstein – Obama Regulatory Czar (University of Chicago) provide that knowledge and experience -- I think not!  Cass Sunstein just wants to "nudge" our society toward socialism and other crazy ideas ... what could possibly go wrong with that idea?

Sunstein's wife, Samantha Power, has been a champion of a Soros-funded doctrine, entitled "responsibility to protect," which was used by Obama to justify engaging in an international military alliance to bomb Libya. As the National Security Council special adviser to Obama on human rights, Power reportedly influenced Obama in his decision.

In the article Soros fingerprints all over the Libya bombing, we learned the following regarding the policy of "Responsibility to Protect":

[....] According to the principle, any state's sovereignty can be overrun, including with the use of military force, if the international community decides it must act to halt what it determines to be genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity or ethnic cleansing.

The term "war crimes" has at times been indiscriminately used by various U.N.-backed international bodies, including the International Criminal Court, or ICC, which applied it to Israeli anti-terror operations in the Gaza Strip. There has been fear the ICC could be used to prosecute U.S. troops.

An organization calling itself the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect is the world's leading champion of the doctrine.

Activist Gareth Evans, who sits on the global group's advisory board, is widely regarded as the founder of the Responsibility to Protect principle.

Soros' Open Society Institute is one of only three nongovernmental funders of the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect. Government sponsors include Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Rwanda and the U.K. [....]

We also reported that Attorney General Eric Holder once sat on the board of a Soros-funded group pushing the same "progressive" constitution.

Irish-born Samantha Power had barely been announced as next U.S. ambassador to the U.N when the Israeli lobby launched major attacks on her.

Power, 42, who left Dublin at age 9, was named to the UN post by Obama but may face a tough nomination battle.

Questions are already being raised if right wing Republicans and the Israeli lobby will join forces to block her nomination in the senate.

The New York Times carried an excerpt from the Israeli newspaper Haaretz which includes a 3 minute You Tube clip which allegedly shows Power to be more pro Palestinian than any other senior American government figure. Haaretz wrote that Power "faces an uphill battle" to get nominated because of Israeli opposition.

The influential newspaper notes: "A 2002 YouTube video that is less than 3-minutes long is likely to play a prominent role in any campaign launched by right-wing Republican and Jewish groups against the appointment of Samantha Power as America's next ambassador to the United Nations."

She appears to be calling for an American imposed settlement in the Middle East backed up by American troops if necessary, even if that upsets the Israeli people.

Haaretz, however, notes that Power later "disowned her own comments, saying she didn't understand them and that they sounded "weird" even to her own ears."

The Jewish Press newspaper noted that Power, "Although a darling of the left-wing, she is not shy to advocate all of the methods associated with tyrants."

Power, they claimed, "has an itchy trigger finger."

The American Thinker influential blog noted: "Samantha Power has been a notorious critic of Israel for years and that, naturally, makes her well-qualified under President Obama's criteria to serve in such a crucial post. She will be welcomed with open arms at the United Nations.

We at American Thinker have been warning about her influence with Barack Obama since 2008 .But her bit of nastiness seems to be tinged with a bit of anti-Semitism as well."

Townhall.com, a radical right publication, claimed "Power is anti-Israel, embraces the Palestinians and said (so) during an interview at the Institute of International Studies at UC Berkeley in 2002."

Power however has her defenders. Senator John McCain called her well qualified, as does the Jewish anti Defamation League.

Moreover, Power has received support from  former New Republic editor Martin Peretz, who said in a  2008 article, "Samantha Power is a friend of Israel."
