Analyst's note:  You'll absolutely want to be aware of this event.  We don't give Marine General John Allen one ounce of credit or wiggle room in this! He is walking the line between incompetence and cowardice in the face of the enemy. The fact that he hasn't 'dug in' tells everything we probably need to know about him.

If the General is faltering because of some obscure definition of a UCMJ section (UCMJ Subchapter II, Section 814, Article 14), then he is no leader. His pathetic apology to the 'noble' Afghan should have caused us all enough nausea to insure that he should never again be allowed to stoop that low while wearing the uniform of a U.S. Marine.  Apparently once he bend over, it became easier to do it again, and again, and again. Only now, this General is going to do what is becoming sport in the 'O' zone; sending our young enlisted men into the lion's den!

Are you beginning to join us in feeling the unrecoverable shame!

"An investigation into the burning of Muslim holy books at a U.S. military base has found it was a mistake involving at least five Americans who may face a disciplinary review, a Western official said Saturday, but Afghan investigators claimed it was an intentional desecration."

A Western official said that preliminary findings from a joint investigation by senior Afghan and U.S. military officials that was ordered by Marine Gen. John Allen has convinced them that although mistakes were made, there was no intent to desecrate the Qurans or other material.

The official, who has knowledge of the investigation but spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case, said it could lead to a disciplinary review of at least five U.S. military personnel involved. The official did not elaborate, and it was unclear what such a review could recommend.

The controversy began when Qurans and other Islamic texts were removed from the library at the Parwan Detention Facility, then taken to the burn pit at the adjoining Bagram Air Field.

"However, Maulvi Khaliq Dad, a top Afghan religious leader who was on a different panel appointed by President Hamid Karzai to investigate the incident, claimed the burning was intentional.

According to Dad’s account, the books were kept in a place where refuse is picked up and taken to a garbage burn pit on the base. Afghan workers at the base noticed that they were religious books and notified an Afghan army commander who questioned U.S. troops about the books and was satisfied when he was told they would be stored somewhere safe.

“They lied to the Afghan workers and the Afghan National Army officers, telling them they were going to store the books in a container, then they went and burned the books. If it was not intentional, they would not have lied,” Dad said."

A real possibility exists that significant numbers of the our Warriors (this goes beyond Afghanistan) --  who are all volunteers -- will not re-enlist if they have to fear being turned over in any way to Afghan sharia judgment.  Although the Department of Defense has been mandated to reduce its payroll, this does not seem the best way to do it.

Will someone tell us all again why citizens are fighting and dying over there?  What exactly is the mission?  Never mind, I remember now ...  U.S. strategy in Afghanistan: Spend $43 billion to train & equip jihadists

Please tell your Congressman what you think regarding Americans being held to judgement against sharia law!
