Analyst notes:  We have talked before about Chinese rare earth production and how America is hostage to their policies.  We can not make war without rare earth minerals for production of critical electronic components.  We at CSIA have pointed out the issue of strategic materials and processes which are essential for America.  Although in the past America has kept track of strategic materials and processes and done things to assure that we have these here in our land, in recent years Congress and the Pentagon have shown disinterest.  Okay, now China is manipulating the market .... is this not economic warfare?  Should America not open its own closed mines and resume production of these strategic minerals?  Why would we not want to provide rare earth minerals ourselves? Why would America want to be dependent on the whims and policies of foreign, even enemy regimes?  Oh yes, I forgot.... environmental concerns and political reasons.  Dah...... absolutely
