TEHRAN (FNA)- Pakistan may hand over to Tehran some members of a terrorist group believed to be funded by the United States to destabilize Iran.

Pakistan, in another sign of growing tensions with the United States, has threatened to turn over to Iran six members of the militant group which spy for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

The group, Jundullah, orchestrates terrorist operations in the southeastern provinces of Iran in a bid to create instability and sectarian strife among Iranians.

Jundullah operates in Baluchistan on both sides of the border between Pakistan and Iran and has carried out a number of terrorist attacks on Iranian citizens, army facilities and officers inside the country.

US officials informed the ABC News that the US intelligence officers frequently meet and advise Jundullah leaders, and current and former intelligence officers are working to prevent the men from being sent to Iran. The six Jundullah members were taken into custody by the Pakistani authorities last week, and the Iranian Mehr News Agency reported that Pakistan would soon extradite the men to Iran, where they would likely be put on trial as spies.

Officials said Jundullah leader Abdel Malik Regi was not among those arrested by Pakistan. The US intelligence officials said that they were aware of the developments with the Jundullah members and were said to be trying to block the extradition.
