You say you've never heard of the Madi or 12th Imam? After watching this video, then I simply can not recommend strongly enough that you read "Shariah, the Threat to America: An exercise in competitive analysis, Report of Team 'B'" II We absolutely must understand the ideology of our enemy -- the Islamist. America is NOT at fault here, but unless we stop the Islamist, they will continue to create blood and horror on this earth and will continue to attack us until they destroy us or the end of time, which ever comes first. They wish to die for Allah and see it as the ultimate Muslim sacrifice.
We simply must understand that Islam is a religion wrapped in a political ideology with what they believe is the command to kill the non-Muslim. We have no excuse for not understanding this Islamist enemy.
The Islamist will NOT negotiate, except to gain a better position from which to attack us. Those now in power in Iran believe that the infidel (non-Muslim) must die throughout the world for their 12th Imam to return to the earth. They will use whatever weapons -- to include any weapon of mass destruction -- to which they have access to attack the U.S. and Israel, thus creating, what they believe the necessary conditions for the 12th Imam's return.
Hezbollah cells, an Iranian creation, are operating within the U.S. even as you read this and our fed gov't now calls them a "Resistance Movement." Hezbollah is yet another Islamic organization that takes orders and funding from Iran. They are also working with the Muslim Brotherhood here within our nation.

The analysis for the timing of the Coming of the last imam is quite concerning. The prevailing religion of Islam in various regions of the world has been kept 'off the table' when most American analysts have been tasked with mapping out demographics and cultural idiosyncrasies because of complaints lodged by the Muslim Brotherhood. It is well past time to understand the tribes, nations and peoples governed by Islam and sharia and who, for whatever reason have submitted to it's precepts and tenets.
Since it's inception in 624, Islam and its followers have left a wake of death, devastation and slavery. Slowed for a brief period during the 12th - 15th centuries, the mark it has left is one of poverty, civil strife and ignorance.
Islam has paved the way for autocratic leaders in places like Egypt, Tunisia, Iraq, and now Iran. Islam has in any form sought to stifle freedom and self-determination. It's world-wide mandates have forced submission to Allah and the tools recommended by it's deity are for that purpose include ritual murder, rape, and enslavement. Because of it ritualized use of lies and deceit when dealing with the Infidel they insure that there can absolutely be no confidence in any treaty or agreement made with or signed by an adherent of Islam.
In 1784 our Continental Congress appointed a special commission consisting of John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin, to oversee negotiations with the four Barbary States in order to stop their Islamist warlord known as "Dey of Algiers, from attacking our ships and enslaving our Christian crews. Following his study of the Koran, Jefferson came to clearly understand that war -- not a doctrine of Counter Insurgency (COIN) -- was the only way to put an end to the "Muslim problem."
Jefferson's victory over the Muslims lives on today in the Marine Hymn, with the line, "From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli, We fight our country's battles in the air, on land and sea." I ask you, "What has really changed?"
For additional perspective on this matter and to help in evaluating the recommendation proposed by Mr. Woolsey, I highly recommend an internal search on the term "Iranian Revolutionary Guards". You will be stunned by with your findings. Semper Fidelis.
"[....] “To believe anything other than that Iran is working to get a nuclear weapon is hopelessly naive,” James Woolsey said in an interview on the sidelines of the Herzliya Conference.
“At some point someone is going to have to decide to use force to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. I’d argue that those who say we can deal adequately with Iran through deterrence are quite naive.
“National survival is at issue. In the near term that’s the case for Israel, but in the somewhat longer term it is [the case] for the US, which from Iran’s point of view, is the ‘Great Satan,’” he continued. “This is a world-class problem, not an eastern Mediterranean or Persian Gulf problem. The politics of the world will change if this regime gets the bomb.”
[....] Woolsey said commentators who view the Iranian nuclear threat through the prism of Cold War deterrence are misreading history.
[....] “People who believe there are only two categories of individual – the rational and the stark-raving mad – are quite untutored in human psychology and human history,” he said.
“It’s not only raving lunatics who want to destroy a country, culture or civilization they hate.”
Woolsey said Iran’s theocratic leadership promotes an aggressive, totalitarian ideology akin to Nazi Germany and Fidel Castro’s Cuba.
“During the Cuban Missile Crisis, Castro knew Cuba would be destroyed, but he didn’t care. He felt that if the United States were destroyed, he’d be carrying out his life’s mission,” he said. “As for Hitler, he had a two-part plan: Kill the Jews and take over Europe. Iran’s President Ahmadinejad says he’s got a plan as well: Kill the Jews and take over the Middle East.
“There’s no basis for the proposition that if you’re so intemperate as to decide to use a nuclear weapon you are a blithering, incoherent fool. You might be a shrewd, nasty fool.”
Containing the Iranian threat, he said, will require a credible show of military force aimed at Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
“They’re at the heart of this regime – they’re the instrument of oppression, and they run the Basij militia. They control the nuclear, space and ballistic- missiles program, as well as the Quds Force,” he said, referring to the Guards branch responsible for overseas operations.
“They’re at the heart of everything repressive internally, or aggressive externally.”
[....] Woolsey suggested sending approximately five carrier battle groups – each comprising an aircraft carrier and its escort vessels – to the Indian Ocean, accompanied by bomber support, if possible.
“What these [battle groups] are capable of doing – should the trigger be pulled – is taking out everything related to the Revolutionary Guards,” he said. “Not the civilian infrastructure, not the electric grid, not the regular army, not civilian institutions.”
[....] “No one is suggesting ground troops or mass bombing of parts of Iran,” said Woolsey. “Instead, it would be an operation similar to what might have been suggested to the Royal Air Force sometime in the mid-1930s to take out the Gestapo, SS and stormtroopers.”
“The US conducted air operations like this twice in the 1990s in Serbia – once on behalf of the Bosnians, and once on behalf of the Kosovars – both Muslim peoples, by the way,” he added. “We didn’t lose a single aircraft or pilot, and now in Kosovo there is a Bill Clinton Avenue and statue.”
